Some music that has been making life more sparkly!

The BooksThe Lemon of Pink and Lost and Safe
A new favorite! Creative, uninhibited and musically smart through and through – samples (which include bits of spoken word), songwriting, arrangements, the whole deal. Fire up your iTunes and go download some. Go.

Maya BeiserWorld to Come
Former cellist of the Bang on a Can All-Stars. I’m a sucker for low strings.

ClogsLantern and Stick Music
Another recent favorite. Oh and did I mention there is a bassoon involved? Never, never underestimate the basson, people.

MiloshMeme and You Make Me Feel
Moody, mellow, sexy electronica. Beautiful stuff.

PrinceUltimate
How on earth have I survived so many years without this crazy awesome music in my life?? I was thoroughly obsessed with Prince all through high school – in fact the Purple Rain Tour was the first Big Concert I ever attended. Maybe the whole name changing episode made a bad impression….whatever. The music still sounds fresh this many years later.

DJ Tracy Young - Remixes Living Theater
Sometimes nothing is better than a whopping dose of Unabashedly Gay Club Music.

Pamela ZA Delay is Better
What happens when a classically trained opera singer goes the performance art/computer music route. Heard her perform last month at the Gala Hispanic Theater, and she was incredible! We were embarrassed that the audience was so pitifully small. DC can be really stupid that way.
