program note

Sleeping Weather (Reimagined) is a new arrangement for live instruments of an early electronic composition. In both works, the central element is a thunderstorm recording; the instruments create overlapping layers of sound that rise out of and dip back into the field recording. It evokes the sensation of napping during a thunderstorm, with various half-sleep / dream sounds mixed in with the rain and thunder.

This composition is dedicated to Annea Lockwood, who helped me make this work’s original version and has been a tremendously important friend and inspiration.
